Kathy Griffin

I’m not exactly suprised about Griffin’s comments.  She is somewhat of a loose cannon, and definitely speaks her mind.  Bravo would be stupid not to keep her on their network, especially since they’ve already lost “Project Runway” to Lifetime.  I agree with Griffin in that Bravo should stop putting money into new shows like “Jo & Slade” and use that money for the current successful shows.  I’m a HUGE Bravo fan, and Kathy Griffin’s show is one of the best shows on the network.  It would be a mistake for Bravo to not keep her, as she has won an Emmy for them.  At the same time, I don’t think Griffin should have said as much as she did about Bravo.  She doesn’t want to ruin her relationship with the network, which could happen if they take offense to what she said.

I feel that both sides should issue statements.  As Kathy Griffin’s publicist, I would issue an apology to Bravo, apologizing for saying anything bad about the network and its shows.  An apology would show Bravo that Griffin really does want to stay on the network, and she was just trying to clear the air about any rumors.  As Bravo’s publicist, I would issue a statement to clarify what they said about Griffin signing a contract.  I might also issue a personal apology to Griffin for any misunderstanding this caused.  An apology would maintain a good relationship with Griffin, and hopefully convince her to stay on Bravo.

Ouch…this really hurts for Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus) and Disney!  Disney has yet to comment on this issue, but had better respond soon.  This is ridiculous!  Doesn’t anyone at Disney know the laws regarding products for children?  I mean, of course little girls want to wear anything with Hannah Montana’s name on it, and for them to be exposed to that much lead in one tiny bracelet is ridiculous.  I’m not a big Miley Cryus fan, so I always like to see something slightly negative about her, but I would never want children to be potentially lead-poisoned because of one of her products.  I think the whole thing is sad, and I hope all the children are safe, or Disney will have some major lawsuits on their hands!

If I were a publicist at Disney, I would immediately make an apology statement, admitting that they were in the wrong for releasing the products.  I would also have them make another statement, saying Disney will refund anyone who has bought any of the products containing lead.  This will re-assure consumers that Disney does care about the products they sell, and they did not mean to cause any harm.  Also, Miley Cyrus should issue an additional apology, even though she was not involved in the direct production of the jewelry.  It is literally her face on the product, and it reflects poorly on her.

It is hard to tell from this picture, but I don’t think she looks pregnant.  However, the rushed wedding does look suspicious.  In the event that she is pregnant and the two are getting married this winter, I still don’t think it’s that big of a deal.  I realize the media will make it a big deal, but Simpson is 28 years old, not 20.  She can make decisions for herself, and she shouldn’t be judged for making them.  At least she’s not in and out of rehab like many other young celebrities these days.

If I were Simpson’s or Romo’s publicist, I would come clean about whatever is going on.  There’s no point in lying to the media, as they always find the truth in the end.  Plus, if the two are getting married and you tell the public about it, you can always beg for privacy.  I realize not all paparazzi will respect their wishes, but a good deal of them will, and it’s always better to be up front and honest than to look as though you’re trying to hide something.  Speaking out would also end the rumors, which can easily turn nasty in the media.

Aiken was not the only celebrity who came out Tuesday.  Lindsay Lohan also made public her relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson.  This news also confirmed the public’s beliefs about Lohan and Ronson.  The two have been continually photographed together for the past few months.  Perez Hilton has the scoop on his Web site, along with a recent photo of the couple wearing Mickey Mouse hats.

Honestly, both of these instances were good moves on the PR front.  Both Aiken and Lohan received a lot of publicity following their announcements.  It definitely helped Aiken more, since Lohan is always written about on Perez and other gossip Web sites.  Aiken has since appeared on Good Morning America, and has issued several statements.  His publicist deserves a pat on the back for getting him more exposure.  If I were his publicist, I would take myself out for a drink, then continue to push for Aiken to have more appearances on talk shows.

I love Kate Hudson, and I have no problems with her being intoxicated.  I just think a lot of the press she has been receiving lately has been negative, and reporters tend to blame that on her semi-recent break up with Lance Armstrong.  I think if reporters honestly thought Hudson was not over Armstrong, they would not make such a big deal about her being a little crazy one night.  They would give her space to move on.  According to People‘s Web site, Kate is fine, and turns to her family when her love life is rocky.  “In order to deal with [everything], I just once again go back to my life at home with my family, my son and my friends,” Hudson said. “It makes everything okay. It makes everything feel more balanced.”

As her publicist, I would not have Hudson release an apology, for that would be saying that it is wrong to occasionally be intoxicated.  I would have her issue yet another statement that she is fine with being single, and remind people that her career is going very well.  Though she is in the public eye as a celebrity, she shouldn’t be ridiculed for having a crazy night where she possibly drank too much.

     Just from that video and the coverage I’ve read about the incident, it looks like Kanye does have anger problems.  However, I don’t know if the photographer provoked Kanye and his bodyguard in any way.  The photographer may have said something offensive, or Kanye may have asked not to have his picture taken, though I still don’t think the attack would have been warranted.  With his new album coming out soon, maybe Kanye was too stressed out to remember acceptable social behavior.  Or, maybe he needs someone with him to remind him NOT to violently attack people.

     If I were Kanye’s publicist, I would first talk to him and get the story from him.  I would then have Kanye issue a public statement, or I would issue one on his behalf, stating that he does not have anger issues.  Also, I would issue an apology statement to the photographers who were attacked by Kanye and his bodyguard, and say Kanye feels bad about the incident.  If more incidents occur, I would talk to Kanye about possibly taking anger management classes.
